On Non-attachment :

On Non-attachment :
A good way to practice non-attachment is through listening and practicing the words of our teachers. And on the mat is a great place to start.
In our asana practice we can focus on what postures we want to do better, what postures we want to achieve, how well we think we did some posture or how poorly we think we did...
Or...
We can make our practice bhakti yoga and karma yoga... We can practice with devotion and not take anything with us when we finish.
The end of class is always a deep reminder :
Everything before now, everything after now, let it be where it is... Leave it. Be with your breath. Be in this moment...
One of my PT clients said today about yoga class, “I decided that I would stop competing with myself. I would just let whatever happened in class happen and then it became more comfortable.”
This is one of the results of non-attachment... Things become more comfortable.
Practicing non-attachment on the mat will spread to other parts of our lives... Starting on the mat is a good first step...
At the end of a class :
Sitting and bowing, lowering the self, “As you exhale, empty. As you exhale let go. Don’t even let an impression remain from your practice. As you exhale, lower yourself.”
Namasté
