Meditation Retreat [PART I: Metasequioa Forest] - by Talia

Yeongdeok Dawn Meditation Center, South Korea

It was a crisp Autumn morning at 6:30am on 10 October.

About 30 of our Yoga Teachers at our Ayurveda Yoga Academy in Daegu and in Bucheon, were invited to a 'Wellness Therapy Event' at the Yeongdeok Dawn Meditation Center (Yeongdeok, South Korea) for the next two days. There had been weeks of prior preparation!

I was part of the film crew.

Just before 09:00am, we arrived at Metasequoia Forest. Those of us in the filming crew dressed quickly, grabbed our yoga mats and walked into the forest ready for the first sequence.

Metasequoia Forest

This is one of my favorite sequences. We begin resting. Slowly we come onto our hands and knees, feeling the ground like Cats & Cows BITILASANA MARHARYASANA. We rise up as Mountains TADASANA, shift into a Triangle TRIKONASANA and then take on the stance of Warriors VRIBHADRASANA I. From human forms, we stretch into Trees VRIKSHASANA, and gently perch down as Eagles GARUDASANA. Then we come back down to the ground and fly as Crows BAKASANA. From here, we drop our thoughts in the King of Yoga postures: Headstand SALAMBA SIRSASANA. Slowly, we return to a Child BALASANA.

Thank you Satya Teacher for guiding all of our yoga sequences!
